"Lub Oo"

Ryan's vocabulary keeps growing every day. His latest addition is one that we can't get enough of. He finally has learned to respond to "Love You" by echoing an ethusiastic "Lub Oo." We sure do love our little Ryan!

Space Ranger Matthew!

We borrowed a Buzz Lightyear movie from the library last week and it has become the highlight of Matthew's life. Some things I've learned about Space Rangers this week (according to Matthew):

• They can find Zurg anywhere and shoot things from their fingers. I told Matthew that maybe we should do something else to Zurg, like tickle him or cover him in marshmallows, but that just makes Zurg mad.
• Space rangers can jump off of anything (couches, stairs, tables) even when their moms ask them not to.
• Apparently space rangers don't have to pick up toys, brush their teeth, or put on their pajamas.
• They love to hide under blankets and jump out just in the nick of time to save you.

Funny Matthew

Matthew had his arm resting on the table the other day while he was coloring. When he lifted up his arm he saw a red spot and a slight indentation from keeping his arm in one place for so long. He looked at me and said, "Mom, my arm is melting!"

One day we heard just a blip of a police siren from down the street (our neighbor is a cop). I jumped a little and asked "What was that?" Matthew's response: "A penguin."

I asked Matthew to clean up some of his toys so we could get the Legos out like he wanted. He moaned and complained about it for a while and said it would take too long. I told him to clean up in little groups, like pick up the Little People first then focus on the cars. He picked up the first group and stopped. When I asked him to keep going he said, "Mom, that's okay. I only pick up one thing." I wish I had the same rule. Life would be a breeze. Let's just say he doesn't only pick up one thing and had to finish the job.

Catch-Up

Yet again, I've been a little behind on the blog thing. Here's the scoop from the past couple of weeks.

Kevin and I recently celebrated 7 years together. Lucky #7! I can't believe how fast the time has gone. I was looking at some of our pictures from when we were first married. We had fewer wrinkles, more hair (love you babe!), and no circles under the eyes, but we wouldn't have it any other way. It's been a busy and fun-filled 7 years!

We went to Logan and stayed at the Anniversary Inn then spent the next day doing whatever we wanted. It was great and very relaxing. The best part was when we went to pick the kids up from Grandma and Grandpa Tams' house. You'd think they would be happy to see us? Maybe. But crying hysterically as soon as we opened the door? Probably not the best way to tell your mom and dad that you missed them. We should have stayed away for another night. :)

We spent all of last week trying to get the house cleaned. Call it spring cleaning or nesting, but I need to go through the whole house and de-junk. It seems like we never see an end to the clutter around here. Hopefully we can get organized before the little guy comes. Not too exciting, I know, but that's been our life the past few weeks. Like I said, I wouldn't have it any other way, except maybe more ice cream.

It's May!!

I can't believe it is May already. Where has this year gone? It seems like just yesterday we were starting January. Oh wait, maybe because it still feels like January around here. We're ready for Spring!

The past couple of weeks have been busy and I have been lazy and/or negligent with the blog. Kevin went to San Francisco last week for a work conference. He got to eat at fine restaurants with his colleagues while the boys and I enjoyed mac n' cheese, pancakes, and pizza. :) Kevin had a great time and learned a lot about his field. We were certainly glad to have him home again!

Last Sunday was Ryan's first official day of nursery. Hooray! He did really well except for the last half hour when he kept telling the teachers "home, home." I think he was ready for his nap. He is so much fun these days and just loves to get into trouble. His new adventures include dumping cereal on the floor and stomping on it to grind it into the carpet and opening the silverware drawer to pull out the butter knives. We need to get a lock for that drawer! I hear it opening and then hear little feet on the go. When I go to get him he just laughs as he hands over the knife because he knows he will be at it again soon. He has also become our little parrot and repeats everything we say. This morning I was making him a pancake and asked if he wanted jam on it. He looked at me and started yelling "Jam it! Jam it!" I couldn't stop laughing. Matthew has been growing up so fast. I saw his 2-year-old picture in our room the other day and he looked so little. He is already 3 1/2 years old! He loves primary and going to the library. And of course playing cars are still a staple of his life. It's fun to watch him play now because he sets up little scenes and gives the cars names. He has a very active imagination. The other day he said to me, "Mom, I will miss you when I go in my rocket ship. But don't worry cause I will come back to see you and take you for a ride." He has been potty training as well and has been doing a pretty good job the last week or so. We bought him some new undies and all of a sudden he loves the ones with Superman. He told me that he wanted to be a Superhero when he grows up so he can save people. The funny thing is I don't think he's ever seen much about Superman or any of the others but apparently he knows what they are. He also loves going to Home Depot with his dad. Here is his latest project, a planter box.

He also helped Kevin plant the tomatoes in the back yard and loves to work outside. He loves to help and can make a pretty mean peanut butter and honey sandwich (with mom's supervision of course.)
