Walking Home

I love these pictures.  Rachel lives across the street and Zachary counts her as one of his best friends.  On our way home from preschool today Zachary told her they should hold hands so they wouldn't get lost.  Rachel just said, "OK" in her cute voice and off they went.  I'm glad they can be such good buddies.

Back to School

Well, another summer has come and gone and the boys are back in school.  Matthew started 2nd grade this year.  He was really excited to have a new teacher and meet new friends.  He is anxious to find out when his recess time will be.

Ryan started kindergarten a week later.  It's weird to have two boys in school now, but Ryan was ready and couldn't wait to be like his older brother.  He has lots of friends from the neighborhood in his class and also has the same teacher that Matthew did.  We love her and know that Ryan will have a great year.

Zachary started attending a preschool in our neighborhood.  I trade teaching with five other moms, meaning I teach for two days every six weeks.  Zach was especially excited to have his own backpack and go to school with friends.  I think he will do well.
We are in for a fun and busy year!

Curls

Andrew has been the first of our boys to actually have some hair at an early age.  He even had a little bit of curl in the back.  It was so cute and I resisted cutting it for a long time.  The long wisps of hair on top and the baby mullet in the back eventually had to go.

I actually teared up a little when my neighbor took the first snip.  When she was all done he looked like more of a little boy than my baby.  He is growing in to a toddler so quickly!  Here is our adorable little monster with his new short hair.

Splash Pad

Our last day of summer!  I took the kids to the splash pad at the Highland city center today to kick off the school year.  They had a lot of fun.  I was surprised as how much Andrew liked the water.  It was a good little trip to get us ready for the big day tomorrow.

The Zoo

Kevin's company had a family night at the zoo so of course we had to go. I had never been to the zoo in the evening before, but I would highly recommend it. It was very peaceful and a lot cooler with all of the shade from the trees. Although the animals were calming down and were a little sleepy, we still got to see a lot them and it was even fun to see where they would curl up for their naps. The boys loved the new Rocky Shores exhibit with the polar bears and sea lions. Of course the elephants, monkeys, and snakes are always a hit. It was a great activity to begin our transition to the new school year.

Brigham City Temple

We were able to go on a tour of the Brigham City Temple and it was such a wonderful experience.  We worked really hard with the boys beforehand, using several family home evenings to talk about temples and to practice how we act there.  We looked at pictures of different rooms within the temple and decided on a few things we would watch out for - a picture of Christ being baptized near the baptismal font or the double mirrors in the sealing room for example.  The boys did well on the tour and were excited to be in such a special place.  Our sweet Aunt Jeneile came with us and it was very nice to be with her, although we couldn't find a picture with her.  They must all be on her camera.  :) We loved the beauty of the temple, especially the incorporation of the peach blossoms throughout.  It was very special to contemplate on the significance of what happens there while we had our entire little family with us.  It was just a great experience.

Four Future Missionaries

Does it get any better than this? Four brothers in white shirts and ties.  Just finished going to the Brigham City Temple open house.  They almost look like little missionaries.  I couldn't wait to post this picture.

Proof

As I have been looking through pictures of our family over the years, I realized that there are few of Kevin and I together.  It seems one or the other is taking the pictures and somehow we forget to document ourselves in the same situation.  I decided we needed to be better about that, so when we went to see Wicked in Salt Lake I made sure we had some proof that we actually exist together.

It was a great musical and we enjoyed spending so much time together.  When the play finished we went to the City Creek Center to look around.  It was nice to browse and take time window shopping without pushing a stroller full of our adorable impatient anklebiters.

Then we went out to eat at some fancy-schmancy restaurant.  Yes, a real restaurant, with a real chef and real menus and really, really good food.  We decided it was okay to treat ourselves every once in a while.  Thanks hubby for such a great day!
