Little Blessings

On Sunday morning I was sitting down with Matthew and Ryan. Ryan came up to Matthew and gave him a great big hug. After the hug Matthew turned to Ryan and said, "I'm so glad you are here with me."

I am so grateful that we have Matthew and Ryan here with us. It has been the greatest blessing to our family.

The picture on the left is Matthew and Ryan following their afternoon naps. Both really didn't want to wake up and they really didn't want dad. So both decided to snuggle up to mom. On the right you can see Matthew and Ryan enjoying the great outdoors.

Some Things Do Stick

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but as usual have been busy with other things. Imagine that? :) Anyway, a few Mondays ago we sat down to have Family Home Evening and Matthew decided it was his turn to give the lesson. (We are pretty sure he offered to make it as short as possible so he could get to the FHE treat.) After singing a song he started telling us about Jesus walking on the water. When we asked him what happened next, he explained that Peter wanted to walk on the water too. And then Peter FELL DOWN IN THE WATER (as emphasized by Matthew). We asked what happened next and he said, "Jesus asked them, 'Why don't they have more faith?'"

I have to say that I am grateful for moments like this. It sure is nice to know that with all of the craziness and crankiness of a three-year-old, something valuable is getting through. Now if only I could get him to stop sitting on his brother....We love you Matthew!

The World According to Ryan

Ryan has become our little parrot lately, imitating just about everything we say and do. As a result, he has learned a lot of new words. Here are some of the things he is saying, besides the usual Mom, Dad, Matthew, milk, etc.

ah duh - all done
pweez - please
ga ga or day doo - thank you
buh - bus or book
too choo - choo choo
kak kak - quack quack (apparently all birds say this)
aah aah - sound of sheep or horse
sots - socks
shees - shoes
cheese - cheese
cut - cup
ish - fish
cah - car
buh buh or bye - bye bye
appuh -apple
ittie - icky

He has also mastered waving, blowing kisses, and grabbing one of Matthew's toys with lightning speed only to take off and hide it. What a fun little dude!

Wrestle-Mania

Here are the boys wrestling the other day. It has been fun watching Ryan get old enough to do things with Matthew. Although they have their moments, they sure do love being around each other. They usually wake up in the morning asking if the other is awake yet (in Ryan's case, a questioning look and "Ma Ma?"). And notice who seems to be winning. Ryan may be short but he is feisty. I wonder where he learned that from? :)

Krispy Kreme FHE

So today we had a Krispy Kreme FHE. Both Ryan and Matthew were going stir crazy and we thought hey lets load them up with sugar and see what happens? Okay we knew the consequences but it sure was fun. Here are some pictures and a short video. Enjoy!

Matthew's Song

As I'm sitting here this morning checking my email, Matthew is behind me playing songs from the Children's Songbook. I was busy reading the news when I heard him sing this song. I thought it was pretty clever. He had turned to the page with the picture of Nephi from "Nephi's Courage."

Nephi built a boat
It float and float
Then his bow broke
And he fixed it.

I wish I could find some way to put it to the melody he used. It was actually a pretty good little song.
